THE MAINE RENEGADES ANNOUNCE NEW DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY
The Maine Renegades are pleased and excited to announce the addition of Mike Abreu to the Maine Renegades. Mike will be joining the Renegades effective April 1, 2008 as
Director of Hockey and Head Coach of the Renegade Midget Team. Mike brings a wealth of playing as well as coaching knowledge to the Renegade organization.
Mike grew up in south Boston and played his high school hockey at Tabor Academy (1979-1983). Mike also played for the USA Midget Elite Team (1982) and was invited to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to train for the 1984 Olympics. At the Olympic Training Center, Mike was exposed to some of the best coaching in the world. Mike's experience in Colorado not only covered hockey but also focused on sports psychology and physiology. After his stay at the Olympic Training Center, Mike returned to play Junior A hockey for South Shore in the NEJHL(1982-1983). Mike finished his playing career in the Western Hockey League playing for the Seattle Breakers (1984-1985). For the past 6 years Mike has been the Head Coach at Mount Ararat High School and has coached youth hockey at all levels.
Mike will be responsible for assisting in the general management and operations of the organization as well as assist with the development of practice curriculums, and skills progression plans for all levels.
